It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the person we shop for the most is our sweet, sweet Eleanor. A 14 lb of fury Minature Schnauzer. Dog parents AF. Not only is she our only child….she is allergic to the world, very particular, and extremely spoiled. Take her picks as GOSPEL because….they are in this house.
For the people who care what these things are and why they are so fantastic:
- Snuggle Puppy – We got this for Eleanor when we brought her home because she was SO small and after reading the reviews decided it couldn’t hurt. It definitely didn’t. We put this in her cage whenever we left her (which was hardly ever) or when teaching her to sleep in her crate at night (which consisted of me sleeping on an air mattress holding her paw through the crate for 3 weeks). We no longer turn the heart on but at 3 years old this Snuggle Puppy sleeps at the end of our bed and she gets VERY upset when he (we decided it was a he) gets moved.
- Glandex Chews – Just out here airing dirty dog laundry. No way around this…our sweet dog just has some health issues. If you are one of the lucky dog owners that DON’T have to go to the vet to request an “expression” every month keep on moving. But if you doooo, these might be the droid you are looking for. Do they make the problem go right away like a miracle?! No, of course, they don’t. Do we think they help a little bit and keep her manic to a minimum…yes, we think they do.
- Veternarian Formula Antifungal / Anteseptic Spray – THIS. STUFF. IS. AWESOME!! Please know this comes from someone who doesn’t like anything a vet hasn’t given me specifically to put on her….on her. She gets a monthly allergy shot…that’s a true story. Also, a true story is that if she is going to break out into hives and have a disaster situation…she likes to do this Friday when the vet won’t be open, the second we are leaving for vacation or a holiday week. We were in DESPERATE need when I stayed up all night and last minute added this to our grocery pick up order because I didn’t know what else to do and it has been the best OTC vet product we have purchased and are currently using it right now to treat a skin issue she is having. Trust me, if your dog has a flea saliva allergy-like ours (who knew that was even a thing?!) You need this in yo life.
- Smart Bones – We try not to give her rawhide but know there are healthier things out there, but she loves these and I feel comfortable giving them to her.
- 15 Foot Dog leash aka BEACH LEASH- I grabbed this longer leash last second before our beach trip this summer and it might have been the best purchase. She stayed with us on the beach all day but had to be leashed up and this gave her freedom with out being able to get too far away and was perfect for early morning walks and exploring.
- Squirrel House- Oh my goodness this toy. We got her an XL and she is 14lbs and she freaking loves this thing. She has these squirrels all over the house and is SO mad when someone puts them back in the tree. For a dog who needs to figure things out…this is a great toy.
- Chuck It – This is pure joy that comes in orange and blue for dogs that like to play frisbee. My sister sent this to our last dog who was NOT about chasing anything. But when we got our new puppy she took right to this toy. We are now on our 3rd or 4th one of these because she also likes to sneak them inside and chew them up.
- Mr. Rabbit – This has become the FAVORITE of the favorites. So we have a bunny mommy that lives under our deck in the backyard who has had SO MANY BABY BUNNIES. Our dog sits on her bed and watches them ALL DAY LONG. This is not an exaggeration. When the baby bunnies are out and about we have to make her come to bed. They of course grow up and disappear and the dog is inconsolable and it breaks our hearts watching her sit at the glass door all day with no bunny sightings so we got her her own. This thing is legit and gets so many good reviews. She plays with it every day and carries it around the house with her. Not much more you could ask for.
- Dog Food – This isn’t going to apply to everyone but we lost our last mini schnauzer unexpectedly and I would be lying if I didn’t say I think her food was a huge part of it. Our vet recommended this to us because it is specifically designed for her type of breed. She seems to enjoy it. I will say that I am pretty obsessed with nutrition lately and looking at what it looks to move her to a “raw diet” until then…this is on auto-ship.
- TSA Approved Carrier – This is our 2nd one for two dogs and I’ll keep buying them until they quit selling them. We are 100 % those people who take our dog on vacation. It fits under the airplane seat, anytime she rides in the car with us we put her in this for safety, and if we are out and about and she is with us we take this so if she wants to sleep or feel safe she has a place to go.
- Leather Leash – I have been through every leash on the market. I won’t do a retractable leash anymore after the scar I have on my leg from someone else’s dog, ours broke anytime I really needed it, and I realized it keeps ZERO control of my dog or any other. If you haven’t been personally assaulted by a person walking their dog on a retractable leash…….. are you even a dog owner. Our dog is small and I wanted to set boundaries with her while walking so I needed a leash that wasn’t super long. She chewed on the nylon ones and I was afraid she was going to get free and we can’t have that. I actually slip this around my waist and handsfree walk her. For $20 it was a great find!
- Capstar – During the life of your dog no matter how clean you are and how much you treat them….they will get fleas. We picked them up this year from our above-mentioned bunnies and it has been a DISASTER. These awesome pills kill all fleas that are currently on your precious pup and are good to have in your dog medication arsenal.
- Fish Skin Sticks – Our dog should have been born on an island because she will rip a piece of fish or seafood right off your plate (not really but you get the point). She loves these sticks. They are a little stinky, they are a little messy, but what in life is good that isn’t?!
- Collapsible Bowls- These things…I have purchased so many of these because I forget to take them with us. Perfect for traveling, long car rides, staying the night somewhere, taking them to a dog sitter’s house so you don’t lose the ones you love and go with a set (this has happened to us and we never got them back). They also clip on to anything so take them hiking or while out and about walking the streets seeing the people like our dog likes to do.
- The Voyager Harness- Just go to this product page and read the reviews and you will have one on the way to your house. Our puppy has never seen an old-school collar. She grew up in this harness and it has held up really well. She walks every morning and this has never let us down. She doesn’t live in it full-time cause who wants a bra on all day…but I’m sure it’s good for that too.
