Pamela, a Love Story – Netflix Documentary Review

When I tell you, I had ZERO intentions of ever watching this….like less than zero. Like being kidnapped and having a choice between hearing MMMbop by Hanson played on a loop till my demise or watching this just once, MMMbop probably would have been the preference (insert the SNL skit of that HERE). Anywayyyy my adorable husband, who is the hand that guides the TV remote turned this on last night unbeknownst to me and quickly said, “She was a VERY large part of my teenage life,” at my side-eye judgy look from across the sectional.

Don’t get me wrong….. I watched Baywatch. I loved me some Don’t Hassel the Hoff since the days of Knight Rider and have been told numerous times that I would kiss the tv screen when he was on. I can’t say that I watched “Babewatch” in its entirety or even remember anything that happened specifically. I know Pam Anderson was on there, and I don’t even think I didn’t like her character. I might have even been upset when they replaced her character….did that happen, or am I making that up? I knew she had a sex tape and didn’t feel one way or another about it, so that wasn’t what was keeping me from waiting to watch it. I just genuinely didn’t have any interest in it, so I didn’t expect anything from it and planned to just scroll through the entire thing. That did NOT happen. By the end of this documentary, I had been sucked into giving it my full attention….. like phone down and turned all the way toward the TV. I realized I had no idea about anything having to do with her personal life at all really, enjoyed her carefree and fun personality, was super impressed that she did the documentary almost 100 % make-up free and in her house dress, was and am actively rooting for her in future endeavors, and was saddened that I feel that she is another female exploited at a young age by Hollywood, but that is a different conversation for a different time on a different platform.

Verdict:

1 Scroll- and that is ONLY because I was scrolling at first because I didn’t want to watch it. I don’t want to say it’s a must-watch, but I’m also not going to say it isn’t. If you like documentaries, it is a great watch, and I think it’s worth an hour + of your time, especially if you grew up knowing who she was.
