McDonald’s Copy Cat Healthier-ish GF Big Mac

I take my McDonald’s SERIOUSLY. This is not the first nor the last blog post of me declaring my undying love for my favorite restaurant….That’s right, RESTAURANT. I said what I said. It’s the only place we eat that isn’t in our kitchen, and that’s not an exaggeration…it’s a FACT. I doooo however also really care about what we put in our bodies, so…enter this copycat. Full disclosure I should have named this semi-homemade by Stephanie (anyone remember that show?!…Just me?!) because the sauce isn’t “from scratch” but sometimes…I just COULD NOT POSSIBLY and when you like to eat mostly at home but making any sort of food seems daunting, I like to have premade things that I don’t mind having so I can still eat relatively healthy, not drop a $100 on Uber Eats, or have to leave the house to get what I want. I had VERY little hope for this recipe tasting anything close to a Big Mac….but it dooooes. It’s easy to make, I can pick the leaner beef to put in there, the sauce can be grabbed during your weekly grocery trip (I don’t care what the reviews say..this sauce tastes CLOSE ENOUGH to the real deal), and for my fellow GF people, welcome back to this deliciousness. For maximum happiness serve with my air fryer french fries.

Pro Tip:

  • To cut out a good deal of fat use 93% ground beef or higher
  • Grill these burgers AND the buns…..It’s SO GOOD this way
  • Remove middle bun to save on a lot of carbs and you honestly won’t even notice. My husband prefers it this way
  • Use sauce on every bun even though that’s not how McD’s does it. Just tastes better this way
  • Swap regular buns for gluten-free ones. We only make this GF and love how it tastes with both types of GF buns we have tasted
